Shopify Review 2019

Shopify is a popular platform for building all forms of E-Commerce stores. It allows you to build and set up your own online store and sell the goods and services of your choice.  Shopify provides you with over 100 ready-made online stores that you can then customize to your likeness.

This program has been in the market for a few years and it has grown tremendously. It is also probably the biggest e-commerce solution provider out there.

Also an FYI, this review is based on my research, reviews, and findings of this program!

Name: Shopify

Owners: Tobias Lütke

Price: Plans starting from $9 up to $2000.

Ratings: 4.5/5

Who Is Shopify For?

Shopify is the most user-friendly website, it can be used by newbies, business owners, bloggers and marketers too who can start their own e-commerce store. The monthly plan price is also quite affordable, so it’s actually a great choice for small businesses too who usually work with a tight budget.

Even though this website is user-friendly, beginners might get confused on how to do things. Additionally, using Shopify is only appealing to the people who have physical or digital products and services to sell. So in case, you are planning to open a new Shopify store, please do watch a few videos to understand how Shopify works before signing up. Also, you can check out Shopify’s eCommerce University’ to learn more about this website and using it.

Does Shopify Include Web Hosting?

This is actually one of the benefits that Shopify offers, it takes care of hosting your store for you. You don’t have to sign up to any external web hosting service too. Shopify uses optimized servers that are specifically built for e-commerce.

Features of Shopify

1. Earning Commissions

Shopify offers a range of posts, webinars and video tutorials that you can use for your own marketing purposes and earn a standard commission rate. Commissions are also paid on any sales made of the products available on Shopify, this also includes affiliate marketing of Shopify.

2. Niche Information

Shopify offers a  number of niche products which you can use, you also have the option of buying third-party apps and themes that fall within the entire framework of Shopify. The affiliate program also pays commissions for the sale of any of these products.

3. Average Commission Rate

The average commission rate offered by Shopify is $58 which is actually quite alot as compared to the other websites. Shopify pays commissions on the basis of different metrics but the payout of the basic account is $58. It also pays 20% of the revenue for referrals.

Shopify Price

Shopify has an initial 14-day trial where you can try out all the functioning of the platform thoroughly before you sign up and pay for a premium plan. Below are the different premium plan prices:

  • Shopify Lite – $9/monthly
  • Basic Shopify – $29/monthly
  • Shopify – $ 79/monthly
  • Advanced Shopify – $ 299/monthly
  • Shopify Plus – These fees for this plan are negotiable but they are approximately $2000/monthly.

Shopify offers one of the cheap ways to sell products and services online, this is because it’s starter plan costs just $9 a month, where you can sell an unlimited number of goods.

Also, here are a few key differences/features to watch out for, these will help you decide on which Shopify plan to select and which suits your needs:

Gift Cards – These cards are only available through the ‘Shopify’ premium plan of $79/monthly.

Reporting – This professional reporting function is only available on plans of $79 and above.

Advanced Report Builder – This is a set of reporting tools that allows you to create your own custom reports, this does sound exciting but unfortunately it is only available for the most expensive plans which are ‘Advanced’ and ‘Shopify Plus’.

Real-time Carrier Shipping – This feature is only available with the ‘Advanced Shopify’ plan.

Point of Sale Functionality – Unless you are on the $79 Shopify plan or higher, most of these functionalities won’t be available to you.

Pros of Shopify

  • Response Customer service through the modes of Live Chat, email and Voice calling.
  • High commission rates.
  • An affiliate manager dedicated to helping you succeed.
  • Monthly payouts twice a month that are done via PayPal.
  • A very good brand reputation.

Cons of Shopify

  • Earning that are below $25 will not be disbursed even if you delete your account.
  • Deleting your affiliate account with Shopify is a tedious and time-consuming process.
  • It is only appealing to people who want to sell products online.
  • No commissions are paid for renewals made.
  • You need to wait for 2 months after a user who has signed up through you and has become a paying premium subscriber before receiving a commission for this sale.

Shopify Support

Shopify has one of the best support team in the industry. Regardless of what plan you are using Shopify offers 24/7 customer support service through live chat and phone calls. You can also get in touch with the support team through email and social media. But your main source of help is the help center of Shopify.

If you are a newbie and have just started out as a store owner/seller, Shopify has ‘Ecommerce Unversity’ where you can gain access to ebooks, video tutorials and guides that aim to help customers learn the different ways of running their own online store.

Shopify is an all-rounder eCommerce website builder that offers a number of services that range from management tools to themes and apps. It also has the best customer score compared to the other builders. These things make it one of the best eCommerce website builders out there.

Additional to this, Shopify can be used by everyone and anyone, be it a big business or a small startup who aims to grow. Also, newbies, marketers, bloggers and others who are looking to earn online can sign up to Shopify.

I would recommend anyone who is interested to try Shopify, if not atleast give their 14-day free trial a chance.
